About My Art

Much of my work falls into two categories;

*contemporary with sometimes discreet (and sometimes not so discreet!) textures

*traditional fine art pieces.

This is one of my favourite paintings as it is a mixture of these two main styles, with some texture in the stone wall in the foreground but subtle tradtional understatement in the remainder. I only finished it recently for an exhibition where it sold straight away and although I usually maintain a professional detachment I have to confess that I was rather sorry to see this one go.

Much of my work is in watercolour but I find that I'm able to retain a freshness by changing completely to a different medium.

I love the work of many of the old masters but my current work is largely influenced by painters such as John Blockley, Michael Morgan, Andrew Wyeth and David Curtis.
